Color of the Year 2023

Meet the Dawn of Brown and Warmer Tones. Gray has had our hearts for a while. It has felt sleek and safe, but the trend is moving toward warmer tones. Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore have released their 2023 Color Predictions reflecting this sentiment. These predictions also signify a permission slip to celebrate pastel colors and creamier tones.

Sherwin Williams: Redend Point

Redend Point has a rich tone that reads dramatically differently in the way it is lit. It resembles clay, desert, and a sky at dusk. It pairs well with beige, cream tones, and gold brass accents.

Benjamin Moore: Cinnamon, Conch Shell, North Sea Green + Wenge

What’s your color story? A color story is a guide to creating a cohesive look. It's selecting and making a palette to help tie the room together. Take 3 to 6 colors, put them together, and use them as a vehicle to make selections. This can be used in a single room or throughout the entire home.

With the exception of North Sea Green, these favorites support the trend of moving towards browns and warmer colors. Something to note in creating a color story, it bodes well to pair a warm tone and a cool tone. If you choose to paint an accent wall in cinnamon, using decor elements in North Sea Green really builds a beautiful complementary contrast.
